A Transition Way of Doing Things
The Transition is an action. It's an opportunity for learning AND doing. Don’t get stuck endlessly studying the problem or spend more time than necessary sharing bad news. Find and share solutions!

The Transition is personal. It starts with ourselves and our households and expands out into our communities. Everyone will be affected by the changes ahead. Everyone has vulnerabilities. And everyone has opportunities for action.

Transition groups are social. We invite others on the journey. In a Transition group, you will find friends and neighbors you can count on as you learn and take action. You will find a place where you can talk openly about your goals, your hopes, and your fears.

Transition groups take people as they are. You don't need to know everything before you start a group and everyone who attends does not need to be on the same page yet. It's okay to live with partial answers and paradox; progress, not perfection.

Transition groups provide an opportunity to develop new skills that meet people's needs no matter where they are in the stages of life: students, young families, senior citizens, renters and homeowners, low income and higher income, more or fewer resources, across the political spectrum.
Transition groups provide opportunities to develop leadership skills for the real world. Whether that’s living your life out loud as a role model, organizing an event, or running a program.

Transition groups seek to build bridges and to expand local community networks. Very often, the resources are there in the community, we just need the right connection.

Our mission is to inspire, support, connect, and train individuals and groups throughout the U.S. who want to cultivate more cooperative, resilient, and regenerative households and local communities.
